Beit Yigal Alon Museum

Beit Yigal Alon Museum about man in the Galilee. Beit Yigal Alon was founded in kibbutz Genossar, home of Yigal Alon, along the Sea of Galilee and near the small Eucalyptus forest the Palmach used for training. In this same forest, Yigal Alon later held the "Spring Meeting" for his minority friends.
The museum introduces the visitor to the Galilee as a unique area of landscape and history, and a reflection of Israel's policy and problems in the past, present and future.
The purpose of the museum is to arouse curiosity, awareness and individual thinking in ideological themes which the Israeli society faces, via the museum experience and the educational program from the standpoint of man in the Galilee. A rich and versatile world unfolds before you at the Genossar forest by the Sea of Galilee:
Colors, voices, sights and sounds about man in the Galilee. You walk along and learn the many facets of the Galilee; you become the Galilee and the Galilee becomes you.

* An audio-visual presentation featuring the landscape of the Galilee and the bond between man and nature.

* An ancient wall map overlooking the natural landscape of the Sea of Galilee.

* *"The Passage of Time" presents cultures that have passed through Israel and the Galilee and left their mark.

* A window of the Jewish town and its institutions in the Mishnah and Talmud (oral Jewish laws) period and of the old fisherman, with the current fishermen's wharf at kibbutz Genossar seen from the window.

* Three-dimensional photos and tales from the Arab village in the Galilee, expressing the processes the Arab society is undergoing between tradition and modernism. The exhibition enables an introduction with the village and a discussion about the Arab-Israeli relationship in Israel.

* A giant map shows the development of the Jewish settlement accompanied by a presentation depicting stories of settlers from the First Aliyah till today.

* An area with Israeli songs.

* Memorial rooms for Yigal Alon, depicting the man and his path, and a screening of the film "Main characteristics of Yigal Alon".

* The museum offers the visitors an electronic database of the Galilee containing a hoard of photos, maps, hiking routes, and information about settlements, sites, people, personas and moral, ideological dilemmas of man in war, captivating Both youth and adults.

* The visitor encounters images of Palmach members at the beginning or end of the museum tour; "The essence was the people - look into their eyes".

* The magnificent two-thousand year old boat is on display at its new location.

* Boat-Tree Lane - the 12 types of trees from which the boat is made were planted at the entrance.
