Kibbutz Ashdot Ya'aqov, in the Jordan valley, was one of the first kibbutzim to absorb, in early 1943, a Palmach platoon. 18 more kibbutzim and one moshav later followed. That is how the method of training and working in farming settlements began, which enabled to continue the existence of the Palmach.
