Sad
The religious kibbutz Sad was founded in the third wave of the Security Settlements operation in the Negev, on the eve of the War of Independence.
In the war, the members succeeded, with reinforcements, in stopping the Egyptian army that had already captured the neighboring settlement of Beret Yitzhak.
In doing so the members of Sad contributed to stopping the Egyptians' vigorous advancement towards Tel Aviv, a task the Egyptian Chief of staff in Cairo considered attainable indeed.
