The settlement Avichail, located four kilometers north of Netania, was founded in 1932 by veterans; former soldiers of the Jewish Legion in World War I.
Many of them carried the burden of the Hagana organization on their shoulders, during the British Mandate. Their leaders, Eliyahu Golomb and Dov Hose, who served in the First Judean Battalion, were founders of the Hagana.
