The youth village Shfeya was at the beginning of the 20th century, a random meeting place for a few young men, who came from Russia and later founded Hashomer, the first security organization of the Jews in the land of Israel.
Contrary to the despair and disgust from Zionism, displayed by farmers from neighboring Zikhron Ya'aqov- the young and refreshing concept of the laboring, struggling pioneering, sprouted in Shfeya - in 1905 under the leadership of Hashomer's first members- Israel Shochat, Alexander Zaid, Yechezkel Nisannov, Israel Giladi and Zvi Becker.
